Proverb - “Needle carries the thread; don’t be carried by people talking foolishness.”
Ire -“Ears don’t pass your head, respect your elders.”
“No one listens to a braggart, be careful of treachery.”

This is a year that one should wear the color white often to allow the spirit of your Ancestors to
connect with their family members. Dark colored clothes can absorb negative energy. Give lots
of celebrations for the Ancestors this year.

This is a year that we should give honor to our past heroes, and sheroes, our deceased
relatives but more so to the dead of our race. Every one of us is responsible for having
Ancestral celebrations in various cities.  The more honor you give to the Ancestors, the more
honor will be received.

There may be scholarships, grants or something that give Afrikan-American people new
opportunities. Support people who are in leadership positions. Be very careful of what you say
because you could be held accountable later. Anyone that we know, that we are impressed
with - his or her leadership, investigate them and support them. You may feel frustrated, but
take this opportunity to do something about it. There are many people with ideas, but
sometimes not as many are willing to act upon their ideas. This is an opportunity for people to
rise in a community and do something positive.

Last year’s reading recommended that people visit sacred places and shrines. Everyone who
did so will get a reward this year. If you did something, such as listening to leaders speak or
going on a pilgrimage to Afrika and you were thinking that you were getting more knowledge
about our people, you thought you were getting knowledge but you were actually getting
blessings and power.

Anything you do for the Ancestors has to be done in a very grand way this year. A new leader
is coming to the Afrikan American community.  Everyone should donate money to help those
who are trying to elevate themselves or the community. Ofun Ejionle speaks of Ancestors
opening the roads and assisting.

If you feel disoriented, do a ritual; do a ritual to shift energy. Follow all advice and counsel
given to you by your spiritual teacher, when possible.

Make sure that you don’t have a lot of clutter in the house as this attracts negative energy. Get
rid of unwanted and unnecessary things. Everything you discard can open the roads for
blessings on a spiritual level. Keep corners clean and uncluttered; clean your house often. At
times people unknowingly bring negative energy into your home or office. To alleviate this,
there are a number of spiritual cleansing products on the market and the Institute of Afrikan
Studies & Knowledge, Inc. offers a wonderful banishing bath for sale. Use frankincense &
myrrh, sage, and spritz/spray the house. Say the 23rd Psalms or any affirmation to clear up
channels and move frustrations and a sense of loss. If you are in the company of negative
people, don’t disagree or agree, just move, get out of their space as this could start arguments.

Avoid at all cost the breaking of any laws because this year there is a greater chance of being
caught. Be very focused in the community; if you see things that are not in rhythm in your
community; the type of people you are not used to being in your community; ask if you can
help them to find out what is happening. Those of you, who are aware of the power of
divination, then read or divine all major decisions.
Be careful of betrayal this year.

Anything that has to do with tradition, respect, honor, we need to teach the children. Parents
should bless their children daily and teach them how to honor their parents. It would be wise to
find new ways of reaching the young people in our communities this year to combat the sense
of hopelessness that we sometimes find in our families. We also need to find or create new
ways of celebrating, rewarding, and encouraging those young people who have been
successful in meeting the challenges with which they are presented, and being successful in
their lives.

If you consider yourself an elder and that does not mean that you are an old, old, person,
accept the responsibility of teaching. All things that you know that are tradition and have value,
worth, and power, implement them in your life, in your home. The Ancestors will be visiting in
homes and sometimes strange things can be happen in the homes (such as noises, sounds,
lights turning on of their own accord, familiar odors) - this is a sign of the presence of the
Ancestors. Listen to the children when they tell you strange things. You may dream about your
Ancestors often this year.

Ritual for success this year: When you cleanse inside of your home, don’t forget to clean the
outside as well. Cleanse the house and the outside of the door, the mailbox, the windows, and
the driveway.

People who do not have Ancestral altars can set up their Ancestral altars. Get information on
how to do it. Purchase a book such as, “Household Guide to Yoruba Spiritual Wellness,”  Vol.
1. by Iyalode Yeyefini Efunbolade, to assist in setting up your Ancestral altar.
